A Book Review
Praying the Scriptures for Your Adult Children
By
Jodie Berndt
At first blush the title
of the book caught my attention because being a parent of adult children I
understand wanting everything to go well for them. As parents of adult children we must continue
to give them sound advice and recommendations knowing that they are adults we
can’t control if they take that advice or recommendation or not. At this juncture I believe the next thing is
to pray for our children concerning the said topic.
After reading this book I
found that it is helpful to have bible based prayers with scripture reference that
could be used in our prayer time not only for the adult child but for the
parents too. Each chapter includes a prayer principle.
This book has anecdotal stories
from friends of the author covering the following:
Praying for Your ADULT
CHILD
Praying for Your ADULT CHILD'S RELATIONSHIPS
Praying through the MILESTONES in Your ADULT CHILD'S LIFE
Praying for Your ADULT CHILD'S HEALTH, SAFETY and WELL-BEING
Praying for Your ADULT CHILD'S VICTORY OVER TEMPTATION
Praying through the MILESTONES in Your ADULT CHILD'S LIFE
Praying for Your ADULT CHILD'S HEALTH, SAFETY and WELL-BEING
Praying for Your ADULT CHILD'S VICTORY OVER TEMPTATION
Epilogue: Is Jesus Enough?
In conclusion a question
was posed to the author by a dear friend “Is Jesus Enough?” Looking at her own life; she didn’t want to
say yes. But, yes was her answer to the
question. She states, “Because, at the
end of the day, none of that other stuff really matters. Good health, fulfilling jobs, and even happy
marriages are temporal, but a saving relationship with Jesus lasts forever.”
She shares in her prayer
principle “God doesn’t want us to trust in an outcome; he wants us to trust
him. This applies especially when we’re
praying for our children.
