Freefall to Fly by Rebekah Lyons (A Book Review)
This is a book depicting the journey of a young wife and mother who shares her journey of a free fall who eventually learns to fly. She is in her thirties and her family is in transition. Her husband's career causes them to take a leap of faith to leave their home in Atlanta and the comfort of all their friends.
The transition was a difficult one for Rebekah, she knew no one.She had to find new friends. She and her three children embarks upon adventures during the summer. This is where she starts to have an emotional meltdown due to the stress of change. She finds that she and her children are not allowed to use the pool unless they have a lock of which to lock their belongings in the locker at the facility. She summons her husband Gabe from his job to bring her a lock right away.
She continues to go further into depression while experiencing depression and her life spirals out of control to the point that she questions if there is meaning for her life and if she has a calling or purpose. Through her journey with her new formed friends she shares her concerns openly as did they as they discover their meaning in life. She is plagued by anxiety attacks and eventually is able to face her worst fears and is delivered from her mental anguish.
She finds her purpose and is thankful for the free fall experience that allowed her to uncover hidden emotions and experiences that has led her to the freedom that she is experiencing. Rebekah feels when women don't know who they are they begin to fade. With finding purpose in her life she is now reaching out to other women who have had brokenness and is able to assist them in finding who they are.
Rebekah states "My calling is to empower women to name and identify their struggles and walk with them as they find healing and transformation."
